Corrales Resigns…Not Sure If By Choice or By Force

Amid controversy, San Ysidro school board member Luciana Corrales has resigned.

Corrales says she is leaving her position because of the appointment of Steve Kinney to the board. But a series of petitions from seven of the district’s schools asking for her to be banned and censured from their campuses says otherwise.

Educators in the district have labeled her as anti-teacher and she has been cited as the source of last year’s strike. She has been ridiculed for everything including allowing her children to attend school during the aforementioned strike and even for glancing at her cellphone during board meetings.

Financial issues have also been controversial for Corrales as she has been accused of not disclosing all required information and misusing funds.
