Last Minute Transfer Applicants Get UC Extension

The University of California has extended the deadline for all the procrastinators. UC President Janet Napolitano announced that the deadline for transferring students has been extended from Nov. 30 to Jan. 4.

The objective is to admit more in-state students and help make it easier for community college students to transfer to a university with hopes of enrolling at least one transfer student for every two incoming freshmen.

The extension is a relief for students cramming for finals, prepping for the holidays and planning stress-free vacations over winter break.

“Giving transfer students more time to file their applications will help hard-working, eligible students across the state make their way to a UC campus next fall,” Napolitano said in a statement.

About 30 percent of students at a UC began their higher education path at the community college level.
