Porter Ranch Gas Leak Relocates Students

Board members for the Los Angeles Unified School District voted unanimously Thursday to temporarily relocate students from the Porter Ranch area.

Two schools, Porter Ranch Community and Castlebay Lane Charter have claimed that a recent gas leak in the area has hurt their nearly 1,900 students and staff.

In October, a storage facility in the Porter Ranch area reported a gas leak and the damage could take up to four months to repair.

In response, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has declared a local emergency and SoCal Gas Company has opened a community resources center to provide information and updates to residents.
