New Supt for San Ramon Valley USD

Superintendent Rick Schmitt is leaving his post at San Dieguito Union High School District and taking the top spot at San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

The district in Contra Costa County is affluent like the one in San Diego County, but has three times as many students, The Coast News reports. San Dieguito has about 12,000 students, while San Ramon is home to 32,000 students.

“I am humbled and extremely grateful to have been selected to lead the SRVUSD,” Schmitt said. “I wasn’t expecting to leave, but it is a terrific opportunity.”

Schmitt, who has served as superintendent since 2013, leaves his current positon June 30 and begins his role at SRVUSD July 1.
