New Superintendent in Town

After conducting a nationwide search the Jefferson Union High School District Board of Trustees has appointed Dan Burns as the new superintendent.

Mr. Burns was one of the three exceptional candidates invited for a second interview. Mr. Burns qualifications and experience placed him as one of the top contenders for the position.

The hiring process was very thorough, and the board made every effort to include the parents, educators, administrators and others who contributed their ideas and opinions to the search process.

The board believes that Mr. Burns has the necessary experience, curriculum and educational program skills, leadership and administrative acumen and values that will enhance opportunities and outcomes for all of Jefferson Union High’s students.

Mr. Burns has 26 years of experience in education under his belt, including having served in many administrative and teaching assignments. Mr. Burns has also been recognized for his contributions and leadership by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) as High School Principal of the Year in 2011.
