Columbia Union Appoints Interim Superintendent-Principal

Last week the Columbia Union School District board unanimously voted to terminate Superintendent-Principal Craig Bowden without cause.

This week, the Union Democrat reports that the district has appointed Diane Dotson as interim superintendent-principal.

The board met for a special closed door meeting on Tuesday that lasted more than 90 minutes, where they discussed the appointment of Dotson.

Dotson is well qualified for the position. She was previously superintendent of Jamestown and Curtis Creek School Districts, but had retired in 2014.

Jenny David, President of the Columbia School Board, said that Dotson will begin her duties as interim superintendent-principal on November 1 as the board begins their search for a permanent replacement.
