Fresno Unified Board to Admin: Where’s The Money Going?
Fresno Unified has increased its transparency efforts in relation to Measure X.
The measure, if it passes in November, would bring $225 million in much needed funding to the district, but voters are wary of how the money will be spent.
In response, Superintendent Michael Hanson has listed how the money will be split into five different categories: classrooms/technology/facilities, arts/athletic facilities, repairs to infrastructure, career-technical education facilities, and safety/security measures.
However, some, including a few board members, say that isn’t enough detail into how the monies will be allotted. At the latest school board meeting, Trustee Brooke Ashjian questioned Chief Operations Officer Karin Temple for specifics. Ashjian is also part of a political action committee that is opposing Measure X.
