Dixie’s Longtime Superintendent Retires

After spending 27 years at Dixie School District, Superintendent Thomas Lohwasser has resigned.

Lohwasser spent his first five years with the district as principal of Dixie School. His 22 years as Superintendent makes him Marin County’s longest-serving school superintendent. He is also the district’s second superintendent. His predecessor, Larry Lyon, was the one who hired Lohwasser as principal 27 years ago.

The board will now have to discuss how to find a new superintendent.

Dixie School District enrolls nearly 2,000 students at three elementary schools and a middle school. Transparent California reports that Lohwasser earned $207,011 in 2014.
