Riverside County Selects First Female, Minority Superintendent

History was made in Riverside County this week.

Moreno Valley Unified School District Superintendent Judy White has become the first female Riverside County superintendent of schools. She is also the first minority to hold the position.

“I’m a history maker and a stereotype breaker,” said White, the district’s 12th superintendent. “I bring unity wherever I go.”

This isn’t the first time White has broken barriers. She was also San Bernardino City Unified School District’s first assistant superintendent who was a person of color. Then when she was hired as Moreno Valley Unified’s chief of schools six years ago, she made history again as the first Black superintendent.

The Riverside County Board picked White over deputy county schools superintendent Paul Jessup.
