Orange Unified Superintendent Michael Christensen Retires

Orange Unified School District is on the hunt for a new chief of schools. Superintendent Michael Christensen announced his retirement, effective August 1.

“The Orange Unified School District is a special place with a spirit of family and community that is unique,” said Christensen. “While I while miss everyone, I am very excited to begin the next phase of my life.”

Christensen has been with Orange Unified for the majority of his more than 20 years in education. Prior to his six years as Superintendent, Christensen served as Deputy Superintendent, Chief Business Official, and several other positions.

“Mr. Christensen has been a commendable Superintendent and we will miss his leadership,” said Board President Rick Ledesma. “He has transformed the culture of Orange Unified School District to one with a fiscally strategic focus on student achievement.”

The board will now have to discuss next steps to find a replacement for Christensen.
