Menlo Park Superintendent Takes Lesser Paying Job
Dr. Maurice Ghysels is heading on to Ravenswood City School District where he will take on a lesser role than he’s been accustomed to since 2011.
Late last year, Dr. Ghysels, the Superintendent of Menlo Park City School District, announced he would be retiring at the end of this school year.
He has now accepted the position of chief innovation officer for Ravenswood, where his $180,000 annual salary is $55,000 less than his current salary but on par with Ravenswood Superintendent Gloria Hernandez-Goff.
The positon will only last two years and is being partially funded by The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, operated by the infamous Facebook creator.
Erik Burmeister will take over for Dr. Ghysels as Superintendent of Menlo Park beginning July 1. His three-contract includes a $223,000 annual base salary, a $250 a month vehicle allowance, and 25 annual paid vacation days.
