Mauricio Arellano Named Redlands Unified Superintendent

Redland Unified has found its new Superintendent with Mauricio Arellano.

The district has been on the hunt for a new chief of school ever since Superintendent Lori Rhodes announced her retirement in April.

Since 2003, Arellano has served as assistant superintendent of human resources for Palm Springs Unified. Prior to that he worked for San Bernardino City Unified.

“Our board is very excited about the prospects of his leading the district and helping our students achieve academic success,” said Board President Donna West.

Arellano’s contract lasts for three years and includes a $220,000 annual salary, $500 monthly car allowance, $400 monthly expense allowance, up to $10,000 for relocation expenses, and a $200,000 life insurance policy. He’ll also receive 12 sick and 22 vacation days each year.

He begins September 18.
