New Superintendent for Berryessa Union

Berryessa Union School District has found its new Superintendent with the appointment of Dr. Roxane Fuentes.

Dr. Fuentes currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, a position she’s held for five years. Her more than 20 years of experience, certainly makes her well qualified to take over as chief of schools for the 7,200-student district.

“Dr. Fuentes impressed the Board with her compelling background in both student-focused project-based instruction and in the professional development and coaching of educators,” said Board President Thelma Boac. “We look forward to working together to continue the tradition of innovative learning in Berryessa.”

She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from USC, a master’s degree in history from Cal State Fullerton, a master’s degree in education from Cal State Long Beach, and received her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California in 2015.

“I am excited and honored to have been chosen as the new superintendent of Berryessa Union and look forward to working collaboratively with the school board, staff, students, parents and community,” Dr. Fuentes said. “I was highly attracted to the diversity of the Berryessa community and I’m committed to providing all students with an enriching educational experience which will assist them in an ever-changing global society. “

Superintendent Will H. Ector, Jr. is retiring August 30 after having spent six years in the role for Berryessa Union. Dr. Fuentes takes over as leader of the district the following day.
