When Will Stockton’s Superintendent Return?

The Stockton Unified Superintendent took a leave absence beginning in August to take care of his wife who passed away a month later.

Superintendent Eliseo Davalos has been on paid leave since August 10, after which Dan Wright has been taking over as Acting Superintendent. However, Wright also sits on the Stockton city council, creating a bit of a scheduling conflict.

Councilmembers have put a bit of informal pressure on the school district to deal with the superintendent decision in a more timely manner so as to prevent further issues between Wright’s two positions.

Davalos has been Superintendent since 2016.
