The Lafayette School District Owes Taxpayers About $500,000

The Lafayette School District has accidentally been overcharging property owners for a school parcel tax.

Residents have been paying an extra $26 per parcel for a tax that began taking effect in July 2oi5 and continuing into this year.

The mistake is expected to add up to $432,640 in reimbursements.

Superintendent Rachel Zinn issued a statement acknowledging the error and ensuring residents that a repayment will occur as soon as possible.
