NAACP Asks SF Unified to Declare State of Emergency Because of Longstanding Achievement Gap

The achievement gap for Black students in San Francisco has a reached such a severe point that the NAACP is now calling for the district to declare a state of emergency.

According to data, nearly 3 in 4 Black students failed to reach state assessment standards in at least one subject.

The president of the San Francisco chapter of the civil rights group, Amos Brown, ahas asked the district for the state of emergency in hopes of bringing more attention to the issue so that something can be done about it.
