Westminster Superintendent Fired After 4 Months on the Job

Cyndi Paik has been released from her duties as Superintendent of the Westminster School District after having served for only four months.

The 2017 Westminster School District Administrator of the Year was hired in July to replace Dr. Kim Phelps who resigned in April to take a position as Superintendent at Poway Unified.

Dr. Paik has had a 20 year career in Orange County as an educator. Even though she only served four months, according to her contract, she will receive a severance package of $220,000 in salary, plus health benefits for an entire year.

The Board of Trustees has appointed Sheri Loewenstein and Dr. Gary Rutherford to serve as interim superintendents, until a new permanent superintendent has been chosen.
