Butte County Superintendent Race Down to One After Other Candidate Withdraws

The race for Butte County Superintendent of Schools just got a lot more simple, right after it got a little more complicated.

Only one candidate, Deputy Superintendent Mary Sakuma, remains in the race. The other candidate, Bruce Yerman, was forced to withdraw from the race because he didn’t meet the requirements to run.

All candidates running for superintendent must currently have a valid, active California Administrative Certification. Yerman’s had expired.

Sakuma is now running for the seat unopposed. Current Superintendent Tim Taylor is not running for re-election.
