Chico Teachers Get Pay Raise

Teachers at Chico Unified School District received a victory when the board approved a 2.46 percent raise.

Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Jim Hanlon credits internet-based bargaining and union leadership with the smooth negotiation process.

Besides the 2.46 percent increase, teachers also had benefits increased, and further increases can be discussed if enrollment increases.

The district reached a three-year tentative agreement on wages and benefits.  Financial impact of the salary and benefit is estimated at $2,182,907.
