Mendota Principal Arrested on Child Molestation Charges

An elementary school principal in California’s Central Valley was arrested last week after four students accused him of inappropriate touching.

Richard Garcia, 49, is the principal at McCabe Elementary School in Mendota. His alleged crimes occurred between 2012 and 2014 while he was teaching second grade at Washington Elementary School. He has also held jobs as a groundskeeper, bus driver, and vice principal for the Mendota Unified School District.

The investigation began four months ago when a former female student first came forward with allegations. Garcia has been charged with four counts of child molestation and is currently on administrative leave.
