Ex-Lakewood High School Teacher Convicted of Molesting Student

A former Lakewood High School teacher is facing a possible three year sentence in state prison after pleading no contest to a single count of committing a lewd act with a child.

Mary Jahn, 53, could have gotten as much as eight years in prison for nine felony counts of child molestation absent the plea deal with Los Angeles County prosecutors. The English teacher carried on a three-year sexual relationship with a female student beginning in 2008 when the girl was just 15 years old.

Jahn was employed by the school from 2006 until her arrest on May 11, 2017 after the victim came forward and told police about the abuse. Jahn’s conviction came Friday, Nov. 9 and her sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 30.
