The Best Bay Area Schools for STEM

The website Niche has released its rankings of the top Bay Area high schools for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). As SF Gate reports, “the tech-centric Peninsula dominated the list with 13 of the top 15 spots going to schools located between Hillsborough and San Jose.” 

Niche looked at factors such as SAT/ACT math scores, as well as the number of students who plan to attend STEM-centric universities or pursue STEM majors. Four public schools, including two in the Fremont Union High School District, made the top 10.

Here were the top 10:

1. The Harker School in San Jose (private)
2. Stanford Online High School in Stanford (online)
3. The College Preparatory School in Oakland (private)
4. Castilleja School in Palo Alto (private)
5. Lynbrook High School in the Fremont Union High School District (public)
6. Saratoga High School in the Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District (public)
7. Monta Vista High School in the Fremont Union High School District (public)
8. Henry M. Gunn High School in the Palo Alto Unified School District (public)
9. Basis Independent Silicon Valley in San Jose (private)
10. Crystal Springs Uplands School in Hillsborough (private)
