Kindle Books Stolen From Oakland Area Elementary School

An elementary school in Oakland, Calif. is out an estimated $4,000 in Kindle books after someone robbed a third grade classroom of the electronics.

Markham Elementary School said 40 Kindles were stolen from a classroom where a busted window was discovered. That leaves the school’s students without a vital tool for reading lessons.

Markham Elementary School is located in a low-income area of the city, with 95.3% of its student body qualifying for a free or discounted lunch. It serves 400 students K through 5th grade and both its math and reading scores are already well below the state average
