Cloverdale Teacher Arrested for Holding “Fight Club” in Classroom

Federico Vargas, a Cloverdale High School Teacher, was arrested last week on suspicion of five counts of child endangerment and 13 counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported.

According to reports Vargas is suspected of refereeing a “fight club” which resulted in multiple student injuries.

There are conflicting reports of whether or not the fights occurred during or after school, with the Press Democrat stating it is unclear when the fights occurred and NBC Bay Area reporting that they happened during class time.

The Press Democrat reports that Jeremy Decker, Cloverdale Unified School District Superintendent, confirmed that Vargas was a faculty member but could not say what subject or class Vargas taught. However, the staff directory for Cloverdale High School lists Vargas as Special ED faculty.

Reports confirm that the fights resulted in multiple injuries but it is unclear how severe those injuries were. According to all reports Decker notified the police as soon as the situation was brought to his attention.
