San Diego Unified Trustee Kevin Beiser Refuses to Resign

San Diego Unified School District board member Kevin Beiser is clearly unmoved by the recent calls for him to step down. Beiser attended a meeting last Tuesday — his first since SDUSD’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to request his resignation.

Beiser is accused of sexually harassing or assaulting several men. One of them, a political consultant who worked for Beiser for a number of years, has filed a lawsuit against him. The suit includes shocking claims of assault and workplace retaliation. Beiser has denied the allegations, calling them politically motivated.

The Board of Trustees does not have the authority to remove Beiser and can only ask for his voluntary resignation. Beiser has been placed on leave without pay from his teaching job at Chula Vista Middle School, however.
