Novato Hires New Superintendent From Within Ranks

The Novato Unified School District Board has promoted Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources and Strategic Development Kris Cosca to the superintendent’s position, City News Service reports. Cosca will take over on July 1, replacing Jim Hogeboom, who recently accepted a job as superintendent of the San Raphael School District.

Cosca has worked in public education for 27 years. He has served as a teacher, an assistant principal, a principal, an HR director and more. During his time with the Novato Unified School District, he led negotiations with union partners, oversaw the reorganization of the human resources department, and launched a new employee appreciation program.

"Kris possesses the skills and experience that are the right fit for our district and will provide continuity and focus," Board President Debbie Butler said. "He will continue to work closely with our staff, parents and community to move our current initiatives forward and to further our commitment to 'Engage, Inspire and Empower' every student."

"I've really enjoyed the past four years at NUSD and am excited to take on this new role," said Cosca. "NUSD is a wonderful district with talented staff and incredible community support. I look forward to working with staff, families and the community to ensure every student fulfills their greatest potential.”
