California School Guards to Receive Training Under New Law
All school security guards must undergo training from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services under a bill signed by the governor.
SB 390 expands the current requirements. Right now, only security guards working more than 20 hours a week are required to get training.
The new rules will go into effect July 1, 2021. They apply to K-12 schools, community colleges, and charter schools.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 79 percent of U.S. public schools experienced at least one incident of violence, theft, or other crime.
