State Issues Guidance for School Districts on Remote Learning, Meal Services and More

Governor Gavin Newsom has ensured that public school districts will continue to receive funding during the coronavirus epidemic. But what exactly does the state expect in return? That question was answered Tuesday with the Department of Education’s release of a new COVID-19 Guidance for K-12 Schools. You can read the entire document here

The guidance covers remote learning and online courses, school meals, and child supervision services. It will be updated on a weekly basis, according State Superintendent of Schools Tony Thurmond.

In addition to the written guidance, the Department of Education hosted a webinar Wednesday that was viewed by about 7,000 people. It too laid out the state’s expectations for provision of distance education, school meals, and more during the closure of physical campuses.
