Beaumont High School Becomes Apple Fire Evacuation Center

Residents ordered to evacuate due to the wildfire in Cherry Valley are being directed to Beaumont High School. The Red Cross is on site assisting those impacted by the fire.

John Medina with the American Red Cross told KESQ that distancing remains difficult.

“The biggest challenge and if you talk to any red crossers, we’re used to the close contact. I mean that’s part of the recovery of a disaster is that you have to show warmth and love and caring and that’s hard when you’re standing six feet away so that’s the biggest challenge.”

Thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes. As of Monday, the fire had burned 26,850 acres and was 7% contained.
