Mill Valley Delays School Reopenings

The Mill Valley School District in Marin County was preparing to resume live instruction on Oct. 12. But this week, there came a sudden reversal. Mill Valley now says it must delay the reopening until after the Thanksgiving holiday.

“This is not the announcement we wanted to make, and we are sorry,” said Superintendent Kimberly Berman in an email to parents.

“The issues were a steep and unexpected rise in the number of parents who want to keep their kids in distance learning, and a difficulty in hiring ‘enough quality long-term substitutes to back-fill classrooms for teachers who will teach extended distance learning positions,’” the Marin Independent Journal reports

The publication reports that the Ross Valley School District is considering a similar delay.
