SUMMARY
Under general direction of the Director, Budget and Accounting, performs budget and expenditure
transfers, monthly reconciliation of ledgers, journal entries, assists Director in financial report
preparation and reconciliation, coordinates the clerical work involved in accounts receivable and
other related accounting functions, and other job-related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may
be assigned.
Allocates and manages financial resources for all categorical programs; prepares and enters budget
transfers, monitors grants and donations; balances G/L accounts; assists with closing and opening of
each fiscal year; reviews and assists site budgets and consultations as needed; prepares, updates
cash flow statements; maintains and updates lease payment schedule; supports financial forecasting
and planning; maintains bank account statements and reconciles revolving and clearing accounts;
oversees Mandated Cost claim process; monitors, prepares and submits attendance data.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), fund accounting, data processing
as it relates to financial and statistical record keeping, computer software related to financial record
keeping including spreadsheets and databases, interdepartmental communications. Ability to
communicate effectively orally and in writing; prepare clear and accurate financial statements and
reports. Ability to maintain flexibility while performing a variety of tasks; perform clerical work with
speed and accuracy; deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring tact,
good judgement and poise, takes responsibility and uses good judgment in recognizing scope of
authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BA degree in Business, preferably with emphasis in accounting, or AA degree with five years
experience in school district/governmental fund accounting.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation rules.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and
proportions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where
only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule form.
