$100M in Federal Grants for More Charter Schools in California

The California Department of Education and KIPP Public Charter Schools were awarded almost $100 million by the federal Charter Schools Program for new public charter schools.

$49.9 million was given to the CDE for almost 500 new schools. KIPP received $48.8 million over the course of three years, with some schools receiving up to $500,000 in that time.

KIPP serves nearly 80,000 mostly low-income minority students across 200 schools nationwide.
