Lincoln Unified Votes Yes For “Safe Haven” Status

The Lincoln Unified School District in San Joaquin County is another district that has passed a resolution promising to protect its undocumented population.

As we get closer to the new administration gaining control with promises of mass deportations, school districts continue to pre-emptively issue statements vowing to make their campuses “sanctuaries.”

In the resolution, staff is prohibited from taking any steps that would deny students’ access to educational activities based on their immigration status. The board voted unanimously to pass the resolution.

The district enrolls more than 9,000 students and estimates that about 500 hold or are eligible for deferred action childhood arrival status.
