San Diego’s Leading Anti-Vax Doctor Charged by Medical Board
A doctor responsible for nearly one-third of medical vaccine waivers in the San Diego Unified School District has been charged with gross negligence by the state medical board.
According to Voice of San Diego, Dr. Tara Zandvliet has admitted to writing 1,000 medical vaccine exemptions since 2015. That's when a new law took effect banning personal belief waivers. She has made around $180,000 from doing so.
Records reveal Dr. Zandvliet was jumping over hoops to get patients exempted from immunization requirements. She is now at risk of losing her license. Only one other physician, Dr. Bob Sears of Orange County, has been charged with signing fraudulent vaccine waivers.
Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill in September to crack down on doctors who issue phony medical exemptions. It will invite greater scrutiny of physicians after 2020.
