LAUSD Could Allow Non-Citizen Voting in School Board Races

The Los Angeles County Unified School District could soon follow in the footsteps of San Francisco Unified by allowing undocumented immigrants to vote in school board elections.

LAUSD has authorized a new study group to examine the issue and report back within six months. The findings could ultimately lead to a ballot measure.

Non-citizens have been permitted to vote in school board races in San Francisco since a referendum was approved in 2016.
