Cerritos College Name 2020 Equity Champion of Higher Education

The Campaign for College Opportunity has named Cerritos College a 2020 Equity Champion of Higher Education. Cerritos College won the award for excellence in granting associate degrees for transfer to Black and Latino students. These degrees pave the way for Cal State University attendance.

“We are excited to be honored as a 2020 Equity Champion of Higher Education,” Marisa Perez, Cerritos College Board of Trustees president, said. “Improving student equity and outcomes is a primary part of the Board’s goals to increase student achievement for first-generation and underrepresented students.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work by our faculty and staff,” she added, “to provide transfer pathways that lead to success for our students.”

Cerritos College was one of five award winners in California. The Campaign for College Opportunity determined award recipients through an equity index based on the number of associate degrees earned by Black and Latino students.
