CA Schools Will Get Over $15 Billion in Federal Relief

President Joe Biden is expected to sign a $1.9 trillion stimulus package on Friday. The eagerly awaited bill calls for $1,400 in direct payments to Americans and billions for state and local governments. But it also includes important funding for students.

The American Rescue Plan appropriates $168 billion for America’s K-12 schools and colleges. School districts must use 20% of the funds to address learning loss. $40 billion would go toward higher education and governors must share $2.75 billion with private schools.

California will receive $15 billion for K-12 schools, plus $5 billion for colleges and universities
