SoCal Honda Dealers Surprise Drama Teacher With $5K in Supplies

A Diamond Bar drama teacher was surprised with $5,000 in new supplies this week from SoCal Honda’s Random Acts of Helpfulness campaign.

If you live or work in the SoCal area, you’ve probably spotted Helpful Honda’s ads on radio or TV. They feature real-life winners of heart-warming Honda giveaways.

Teacher Jared Kaitz had no idea he was about to be one of these recipients. He was told a camera crew would be filming his rehearsal of “Phantom of the Opera” for Walnut Valley USD’s 50th anniversary project. In the middle of the performance, a blue SoCal Helpful Honda car drove up. Kaitz was presented with a trove of equipment and supplies for his class, including a dance floor, a bluetooth speaker, and a new MacBook Pro.

As it turns out, Kaitz had been nominated for the award by Instructional Dean Julie Galindo.

“Jared has done amazing things for the Drama department and all of our students,” Galindo said, detailing the lengths he went to to keep his drama students engaged during the pandemic.

Several students also praised Kaitz for his hard work and dedication.
