Lancaster Inmates Get Their Bachelor's Degrees

Nearly two dozen inmates at the California State Prison in Lancaster received bachelor’s degrees last week thanks to an educational partnership with Cal State L.A.

“None of us thought this would be possible and we faced a lot of adversity in our lives and in here," graduate Aaron Benson told KABC-TV. "I'm so proud of everybody."

One of the inmates said he’s now pursuing a master's degree and working for Human Rights Watch. After helping to ‘tear down’ his community, it’s time to give back, he said.

Twenty-three inmates donned caps and gowns at the ceremony.
