Julie Bronstein wins special election to San Dieguito school board
Ty Humes’ hopes of returning to the San Dieguito Union High School board were dashed Tuesday with unofficial tallies showing Julie Bronstein taking 59.68% of the vote.
Bronstein will take over for Trustee Area 5, which was left vacant after the departure of Kristin Gibson in April. Humes briefly held the seat but was forced out by a petition effort spearheaded by the teachers union. Humes has a controversial past.
Bronstein is Executive Director of Development at UC San Diego, Vice President of Development on the board of the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, and an advisor for the Autism Tree Project Foundation. She has children in the district and holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from USC.
Brownstein had raised significantly more money than her opponents and was endorsed by the teachers union.
