Stockton Unified Gets Its Third Leader in Two Months

The Stockton Unified Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Traci Miller as interim superintendent Tuesday night. Miller succeeds Dr. Francine Baird, who quit her job as interim superintendent earlier this month. Dr. Baird was brought on board to succeed John Ramirez Jr., who resigned as superintendent in June.

Dr. Miller has worked for SUSD for 25 years and most recently served as director of student support services.

"I am honored by this appointment and look forward to working with our stakeholders in the upcoming school year,” she said in a statement

The new interim superintendent will have her work cut out for her. Aside from obvious issue with turnover, a recent report from the San Joaquin County Grand Jury alleges mismanagement and a lack of transparency have contributed to a projected $30 million budget shortfall.
