San Diego Unified Confirms Cyber Attack

San Diego Unified officials announced a data breach as a result of a cyberattack this week. The district did not say whether any sensitive data had been obtained by hackers or whether any ransom demands were made.

SDUSD “will provide an additional update once our investigation is complete,” SDUSD Superintendent Lamont Jackson said in a letter to staff and families.

“We want our students and the San Diego Unified community to know that we place a high value on maintaining the integrity and security of the data we hold in our systems and (that) we are working diligently to complete our investigation of the incident,” he added.

Jackson said passwords were immediately changed after the breach was detected, that law enforcement was notified, and that cybersecurity experts are assisting.
