Corrine Folmer to Lead Clovis Unified
The Clovis Unified School Board has selected Associate Superintendent Corrine Folmer to lead the Fresno district. She’ll take over as Superintendent on July 1.
An emotional Folmer described herself as “humbled and honored” by the promotion.
“I had the privilege to serve as a teacher, coach and an administrator. And it’s just something I believe in,” Folmer added.
Folmer has worked in various roles for the district for 20 years. She is also an alumnus, featured in the Clovis Unified Athletics Hall of Fame. She was on the 1994 Buchanan High girls cross country team when it won the state championship.
“She has experience across all levels of our district. And I think that will serve her very well. She has a reputation for building a culture of teamwork and trust everywhere she goes. And that leadership style has manifested in beneficial results for our students along the way,” said school board president David DeFrank, as quoted by GV Wire.
CUSD’s current head Eimear O’Brien is stepping down by June 30 to care for an aging parent.
