WalletHub Ranks Public School Systems for All 50 States

California has ranked 29th out of 50 states plus the District of Columbia on WalletHub’s list of the best and worst public school systems in 2023.
The credit score website ranked each state based on 32 metrics. These include graduation and dropout rates, math and reading scores, SAT and ACT scores, and the number of blue ribbon schools per capita.
The top five states for education were Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Wisconsin and Virginia. Ranking at the bottom were New Mexico (last), Oklahoma, Arizona, West Virginia and Alaska.
