Culver City Unified Welcomes New Interim Superintendent

The Culver City Unified Board of Education has announced the selection of Dr. Maria Martinez-Poulin as interim superintendent. She assumed the post on Oct. 6 following the resignation of Quoc Tran.  

Martinez-Poulin most recently served as the deputy superintendent of schools of the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). Previously, she served as superintendent of the Whittier City School District and assistant superintendent of the Centralia School District in Buena Park. 

She holds a doctorate degree from the University of Southern California where she also serves on the Dean’s Superintendents Advisory Group.  In 2021, she received the 57th Assembly District’s Distinguished Women of the Year Award.

CCUSD Board President Paula Amezola lauded Martinez-Poulin’s “breadth of experience.”
