Authorities Raid Home of Stockton Unified Board President
Officials with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office raided the Stockton Unified School District Office and the personal residence of school board president AngelAnn Flores on Tuesday. The search warrants were served as part of an "independent investigation,” which the sheriff’s office would not specify. The district attorney’s office, however, confirmed it was part of its investigation of the school district.
The raid comes nine months after a state audit found evidence of fraud, misappropriation of funds and other illegalities at Stockton Unified. The district is projected to have a budget deficit of at least $30 million by 2024.
"It has been brought to our attention that the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation,” the district said in a statement Tuesday. “The Stockton Unified School District will cooperate fully while keeping our focus on student wellness and achievement.”
