One of Two Vacancies Filled by Tuolumne County Board of Education

The Tuolumne County Board of Education has filled a vacancy in District Five, which was created by the departure of Casey Littleton last month. Local rancher and parent Nichole Salyers was selected in a 4-1 vote. She’ll represent Jamestown and the Sonora Elementary school districts in the precincts of Mill Villa, Gibbs, and Valponi. Her term expires this year.

“I’m excited to serve as the newest Area 5 trustee of the Tuolumne County Board of Education,” Salyers said. "I am committed to creating a supportive and innovative environment and looking forward to working with fellow board members, parents, and the community to ensure every student has the resources they need to succeed.”

Board member Judi Wilson voted against Salyers’ appointment, though she did not provide a reason for her vote.

The board is currently accepting applications to fill another vacancy in District Four. That seat covers the Flat-Groveland Unified School District and a portion of the Curtis Creek School District. It was left vacant after Dameion Renault’s April resignation, which came two years before the end of his term.
