Although the situation looks to be improving slightly, California is still having a difficult time producing enough qualified teachers to educate the state’s six million public school students.
Lupita Cortez Alcalá’s is headed back to the CDE.
He will take over for Superintendent Robert Griffith, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
The district will now have to find a replacement.
Former Deputy Superintendent Dr. Gudiel Crosthwaite took over as chief of schools on June 1.
